Christian Dior is a French luxury goods company controlled since 1985 by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE. Its founder Christian Dior established the brand in his fashion house in Paris on October 1st 1946, just after World War II ended. Initially specializing in Haute Couture ready-to-wear and accessory items, Dior is now developing a wide range of men's and women's product lines including leather goods, perfumes, skincare and makeup, watches etc... Dior entered China market in 2015 opening 10 offline stores there, then developed online sales through Tmall Luxury Pavilion and JD.com in order to benefit from Chinese consumption growth. At end of November 2022, Dior announced the appointment of Serge Zimmerman as Managing Director, Dior Couture - confirming its ambition to extend the influence of this iconic couture savoir-faire beyond Europe and America throughout entire Asian continent. Dior’s main competitors in luxury industry are : Gucci, Burberry, Chanel… The success and fame of its Ready-To Wear collections are largely dependent upon those of its Perfumerie division, since its debut scent Miss Dior in 1947, created by master parfumeur Paul Vacher; with 2019 launch "Girl" becoming the best perfume launch ever according to NPD data. Meanwhile, competition never stops and the firm must constantly innovate its fragrances like Sauvage and J'adore to keep up the challenge posed notably by Gucci Garden or Burberry Her. Finally, Christian Dior’s reputation relies also on impressive show events organized twice per year during Paris fashion week. They usually gather super stars, influencers and socialites in front rows, along with numerous journalists and photographers.
