To make traveling easier for mothers-to-be, the MTA is offering a free button to encourage fellow subway, bus and train riders to offer a seat to pregnant women. We are also offering a free button to encourage fellow riders to offer a seat to the disabled.
It's not always clear that someone is pregnant or disabled, so this voluntary courtesy campaign – a pilot program during Summer 2017 is one way to help our riders be considerate of one another. Just submit the form below to request your free button.
MTA, or the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York City, offers seat buttons specifically designed for expectant mothers on its buses and subways. These buttons are located near the priority seating area and are marked with a maternal symbol to indicate they are intended for use by pregnant women. The buttons are equipped with an extended reach, making it easier for mothers-to-be to press them and find a comfortable seated position while traveling. This thoughtful accommodation ensures that pregnant women have access to seats that provide greater comfort and convenience during their commute, contributing to a more enjoyable and stress-free journey.
