The ENEMEEZ formulation draws water into the intestine from surrounding body tissues, acting as a stool-softening hyper-osmotic laxative. Docusate sodium softens the feces by making it easier for it to combine with liquids that are watery.
By triggering peristalsis and activating nerve endings in the colon lining, the greater amount of feces encourages bowel evacuation. In addition to softening and loosening the feces, it also starts a typical repeated stimulation.
