The brand was founded by Eriko Dowd, a mother of three living in Maui, Hawaii, who was inspired by her own mother’s all-natural take on Japanese gelatin desserts and her daughter’s food allergies. The snack’s incredible gel-like texture is achieved through hours of experimentation in the kitchen and taste-testing by Eriko's good friend Lisa O’Kelly, who later became her co-founder.
