Jimmy Choo is a luxury fashion brand known for producing handmade footwear, accessories, and clothing for men and women. It was founded in 1996 by Datuk Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat (commonly referred to as Jimmy Choo) who started out by making custom shoes for private clients through his small London workshop before launching his ready-to-wear collection six years later. Today, the brand operates under Interparfums SA and has over 140 retail locations worldwide, offering designer collections along with seasonal pieces each year. Celebrities like Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman have all worn Jimmy Choos on various occasions.
Jimmy Choo was born on November 15th, 1961 in Malaysia. He grew up in a family that had been making shoes for generations, and he learned how to make shoes at a young age from his father. After completing high school, he went to Cordwainers Technical College in London to study shoe design. In 1983, he opened his first shop in Hackney and later expanded his business by opening more stores around London. His designs were popular among celebrities and socialites, which led him to become one of the most famous shoe designers in the world. In 2001, he sold his company to Lion Capital but stayed as Creative Director until 2012. He then focused on expanding his eponymous couture line and opened flagship stores in Kuala Lumpur and Beverly Hills.
